High order Raman generation produces high intensity ultrashort laser pulses through the efficient conversion of energy to a number of frequencies separated by the Raman frequency of the medium. Experimentally, when the Raman medium is excited with short chirped laser pulses, the spectra of each Raman order have a single sideband shifted to a lower frequency. These red-shifted sidebands are not explained by the current continuous wave theory for high order Raman generation. We derive the terms of the spectrum when linearly chirped Gaussian pulses are used in high order Raman generation.
