Abstract
Through a study of the khreia in progymnasmata and of the literary and ethical aspects of the khreiai in the Lives Book 6, this paper shows that the use of khreiai in Diogenes Laertius allows him to maintain that cynicism as a way of life constitutes a consistent philosophical program.
