A morte ainda é considerada um tabu na sociedade ocidental contemporânea, que desenvolve práticas culturais que mantêm a experiência do morrer cada vez mais distante, impessoal e institucionalizada. Os profissionais da saúde, apesar de estarem frequentemente em contato com esse tema, muitas vezes o encaram como sinal de incompetência. O temor da morte é uma questão de especial interesse para esses profissionais, posto que lidando com essa experiência de forma adequada, podem ofertar cuidados mais acertados aos pacientes, sobretudo, àqueles em terminalidade. Para tanto, é fundamental que esses profissionais de­senvolvam habilidades de manejo clínico, bem como habilidades empáticas e emocionais para lidar com pacientes diante do risco da morte, e assim, diminuir a intensidade de seus próprios medos. O presente estudo consiste em uma avaliação de uma psicoeducação sobre a morte proposta em um grupo online realizado com profissionais da saúde de um ambulatório de oncologia. O estudo tem um delineamento quase-experimental e compara os efeitos da in­tervenção psicoeducativa com profissionais que não foram submetidos à intervenção. A mu­dança do medo da morte foi medida por meio da Escala de Medo da Morte de Collett-Lester. Os dados sugerem que a psicoeducação foi capaz de promover redução do medo da morte.
