Afin de conscientiser les étudiants à la réalité des personnes à besoins spéciaux lors d’activités de loisir inclusif, la présente étude expérimente la pédagogie immersive expérientielle permettant d’éveiller la curiosité et l’intérêt des futurs récréologues inscrits au cours « loisir inclusif ». Les apprenant[e]s ont vécu l’immersion dans la réalité de résident[e]s d’un foyer de soins. Ce contact a pu s’articuler autour d’une activité de loisir axée sur la peinture, l’expression de soi et l’échange en groupe avec le soutien d’un artiste peintre. Vingt-sept étudiant[e]s ont expérimenté un apprentissage expérientiel immersif dans une ambiance de respect et d’empathie. L’analyse qualitative de récits d’expérience, de questionnaires d’appréciation et de notes d’observation directe démontre l’impact formateur de l’approche pédagogique immersive expérientielle. En effet, les résultats révèlent les appréhensions initiales rattachées aux stéréotypes véhiculés concernant la santé mentale, et que l’effet des rencontres et des interactions humaines a aidé à remettre en question.
