Abstract
In the current human-centered Anthropocene era, today's societies worldwide are undergoing rapid change, both technologically and environmentally. As a result of growing uncertainty, they are facing a new reality that is characterized by an ever-increasing number of so-called volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) situations. The Metaverse will be the precursor of the future Multiverse. It might be viewed as the next step after the Internet, similar to how the mobile Internet expanded and enhanced the early Internet in the 1990s and 2000s. The Metaverse should offer users novel tools to shape and behold human co-becoming in a future stigmergic Society 5.0 by leveraging on biological human uniqueness. Among possible true 6G innovations, Fettweis and Boche claim that today's biggest challenge is the loss of trustworthiness and restoring trust must be understood as a basic societal challenge.
