Abstract
El Diario notable de la Excelentísima Señora Marquesa de las Amarillas, virreina de Mexico, desde el puerto de Cádiz hasta la referida Corte, escrito por un criado de Su Excelencia es un texto excepcional dentro de la cultura literaria novohispana. No es tan decisivo que su criado, Antonio Joaquín de Rivadeneyra Barrientos, pasara a verso el diario supuestamente escrito por la Virreina como borrador en prosa o que él fuera directamente su autor, sino que lo extraoridinario es que se atribuya a Rosario Ahumada y Vera, que aparece como voz poética protagonista. El Diario se relaciona directamente con el del marqués de Villena, primer grande de España en desempeñar el cargo de virrey, que en 1640 encargó otro diario del viaje transatlántico. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar en el texto la simbología y las metáforas corporales que muestran la conciencia en el desempeño del estatus de virreina, percibido como deber y privilegio aristocrático, a lo largo de tres pasajes que narran la despedida del lugar de origen, la dureza del viaje y la fiesta en el recibimiento.
