Isabel Pérez Montalbán (Córdoba, 1964, residente en Málaga) ha consolidado ya una voz poética sumamente personal y diferenciable en el concierto de la poesía española de las últimas décadas. Desde una geopolítica ubicada en el sur pobre andaluz, su poesía elabora lo que aquí denominamos como el relato de la carencia. Subraya la posición de subalternidad ocupada por la mujer en la sociedad española, acentuada por su condición de trabajadora (muchas veces en paro) y miembro de las capas más humildes de su ciudad de origen, Córdoba. No obstante, este gesto de autorreferencia biográfica no la aísla de un colectivo social (no sólo femenino), que afronta esas mismas condiciones de postergación y pobreza. La autora reivindica una lucha necesaria desde una poética henchida de denuncia, pero nutrida de una tensión afectiva, que le otorga una posición privilegiada en el panorama poético actual. No sólo es una voz representativa de las poéticas neo-sociales y de resistencia al statu quo sociopolítico, sino que exhibe una innovadora mirada de género, convirtiéndose a la vez en una versátil artesana del estilo.
