Abstract
O presente artigo apresenta uma análise do panorama das migrações internas no contexto da dinâmica socioespacial no oeste do Estado de Santa Catarina, enfatizando as décadas de 1990 e 2000. Realiza-se uma abordagem histórico-geográfica dos deslocamentos populacionais e de suas relações com os processos de colonização do território e com mudanças no setor produtivo regional. O estudo revela alterações na distribuição espacial da população e de seu perfil nos municípios da região, decorrentes, entre outros fatores, do avanço da urbanização e do esvaziamento de espaços rurais.
