Abstract
Dans cet article, l’auteur – qui a une déficience visuelle – nous invite à remettre en question une priorisation fréquente du visuel dans les discussions portant sur les sources d’inspiration des compositeurs de musique. En utilisant son propre vécu en guise d’exemple, il propose une exploration de la richesse d’expériences non visuelles de notre monde, que ce soit en termes de sons ou de textures, et nous guide dans son processus créatif à partir des inspirations de telles expériences. Ensuite, il aborde le déroulement de la mise sur papier de ses idées musicales en parlant des outils technologiques dont il dispose et souligne plusieurs problèmes qui sont attribuables non seulement à sa cécité, mais aussi aux conditions préétablies exigeant l’usage constant de la vue. Par ce témoignage, l’auteur nous propose de voir sa déficience visuelle comme un acteur constructif de sa vie créative, de reconsidérer la véritable source de cette déficience et de repenser la notion même de handicap.
