La oposición entre la corte y la aldea, tan frecuente en el teatro del Siglo de Oro se resuelve de manera casi absoluta por el abandono del campo a pesar de los elogios que de él se hacen y de la crítica de la vida cortesana. En este artículo se estudia una comedia poco atendida por la crítica, Con su pan se lo coma, en donde precisamente se postula lo contrario. La vida en la corte aparece como algo aborrecible de lo que el labrador honrado debe huir, e incluso la dama allí nacida.
