„Zaginiony świat” wschodnioeuropejskich Żydów w perspektywie pojęcia ludobójstwa kulturowego kanadyjskich ludów rdzennych

Abstract
Autorka rozpatruje podobieństwa między zagładą Żydów Europy Wschodniej a ludobójczą przemocą kolonialną w Ameryce Północnej przez pryzmat pojęcia ludobójstwa kulturowego. Termin ten, sformułowany przez Rafała Lemkina i odrzucony przez sygnatariuszy Konwencji o ludobójstwie, został podjęty kilkadziesiąt lat później, a następnie poddany krytyce przez kanadyjskich i amerykańskich badaczy oraz działaczy rdzennych. Głowacka dowodzi, że istnieje ideologiczne pokrewieństwo pomiędzy obrazem „zaginionego świata”, który w znacznym stopniu ukształtował północnoamerykańskie wyobrażenia o Żydach Europy Wschodniej, a kolonialną metaforą „znikającej rasy Indian”. Podobieństwo to odsłania ślad zachodnich przekonań o wyższości kulturowej wobecEuropy Wschodniej, zakorzenionych również w dziedzinie studiów nad Zagładą. Wprowadzenie przedefiniowanego przez badaczy rdzennych pojęcia ludobójstwa kulturowego do leksykonu studiów nad Zagładą jest więc zasadne, gdyż podkreśla ono polityczny i ontologiczny zakres pojęcia kultury, jak również nierozłączność między fizycznym i kulturowym wymiarem Zagłady.
