Abstract
This chapter centers around the memory of the First World War and the Canadian First World War Internment. The analysis points to the discursive changes in the place of the internment in Canadian children’s literature and collective memory. The cross-sectional close reading of multiple texts published between 1996 and 2021 demonstrates that the official recognition and commemoration of the interment directly contributed to the popularization of this theme among Canadian authors, scholars, and readers, and also those outside of the Ukrainian diaspora.
