Abstract
Em diversos momentos da história, o surgimento de novas tecnologias motivou a mudança das competências necessárias para a realização de atividades em design gráfico. Logo, olhar para os movimentos de inovação e evolução das tecnologias pode contribuir com a reflexão sobre a profissão e suas práticas. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo identificar a evolução das principais tecnologias de criação e edição de imagens utilizadas na área do design gráfico, relacionando os momentos de evolução e ruptura com os impactos causados na área de atuação. Para tanto, uma revisão bibliográfica trouxe os insumos para verificar os momentos mais relevantes e, então, identificar os mecanismos de evolução das tecnologias a partir do modelo proposto por Brian Arthur. Foi elaborado um quadro com a síntese dos resultados da análise, relacionando-os com diferentes aspectos da profissão.
