/ Des expérimentations sur un pilote semi-industriel IFAS (2,8 m3) ont été menées à la Feyssine (France) pour différentes conditions opératoires pendant deux années. Le biomédia utilisé est le BMX1 : surface spécifique 545 m2/m3, taux de remplissage 43%. Deux bilans 24h par semaine ont été réalisés pour l'analyse des polluants majeurs. Les vitesses de nitrification dans le réacteur (in-situ), déterminées par bilans massiques sur le pilote, ont été comparées aux vitesses maximales, mesurées en réacteur batch à l'aide du protocole de Vigne et al. (2010). La quantité d'autotrophes des deux cultures a été déduite des vitesses maximales à l'aide de l'équation cinétique d'ordre un. Les performances épuratoires en azote et carbone sont restées élevées pendant les deux ans d'étude. La contribution du biofilm à la nitrification maximale varie en fonction des charges appliquées et de la température (50-90%). La production de nitrates du biofilm varie de 0.73 à 0.98gN-NO3/m2/j en condition batch et une population autotrophe y réside. Une nitrification résiduelle à un âge de boue critique a été observée introduisant le processus de détachement de biomasse autotrophe du biofilm dans la liqueur mixte. \nL'IFAS peut atteindre des performances de traitement de l'azote élevées même à une charge appliquée de 0.30kgDBO5/kgMVS/j de 16°C à 22°C. Il a été observé une adaptation de la nitrification des deux cultures bactériennes dépendant de la charge et de la température. Il a été mis en valeur que la nitrification dans la culture libre dépend de l'âge de boue, la nitrification du biofilm dépend des flux de substrats disponible. Ainsi, si les conditions opératoires ne permettent plus une nitrification en culture libre, la culture fixée prend le relais en nitrifiant la charge supplémentaire. Des travaux de modélisation sont en cours pour approfondir ces résultats.
