Le Journal de Marie Uguay se présente comme un accès privilégié à l’expérience intime que vit l’écrivaine alors que la mort promise par la maladie permet l’émergence de réflexions qui façonnent autant un nouveau rapport au monde qu’un rapport à soi transformé. Si, par le statut posthume du Journal, le lectorat connaît déjà la finalité de l’oeuvre, il n’en demeure pas moins que le bouleversement engendré par la maladie et la mort dévoile chez Uguay une part d’agentivité puisque l’acte d’écrire lui permet de rejouer son sort selon ses propres modalités. Ainsi, cet article propose de se pencher sur la thématique de la mort tant au sein du Journal d’Uguay que dans sa réception critique. Plus précisément, il sera question d’aborder l’écriture à la fois comme une reprise de pouvoir sur la vie et une lutte pour celle-ci.
