750. Genome-wide association study for ectopic ureter in three dog breeds

Abstract
The objective of the study was the identification of genomic regions associated with the occurrence of canine ectopic ureter, a congenital abnormality of the urinary system that requires surgical intervention. The study was applied to three breeds: Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever and Newfoundland. A case: control design was used, comprising 263 animals. Numbers of cases/controls for the three breeds were Labrador Retriever (48/50), Golden Retriever (60/60) and Newfoundland (15/20). After quality control, 137,244 markers were used in the analysis. Data were analysed with a mixed model that accounted for breed and sex. After applying a Bonferroni correction, 4, 9 and 5 significant markers were observed in three regions on canine chromosomes CFA 5, 27 and 30 respectively. A preliminary GO analysis showed enrichment in processes related to regulation of signalling and system development, among others.
