[85523-00-8] C 8 H 19 N (MW 129.25) InChI = 1S/C8H19N/c1-7(2)9(6)8(3,4)5/h7H,1-6H3 InChIKey = WYLLBTPEHIVUKV-UHFFFAOYSA-N (sterically hindered and nonnucleophilic tertiary amine, electron donor reagent in photoredox reactions) Alternative Names: N -isopropyl- N -methyl- tert -butylamine, tert- butylisopropylmethylamine; i PM t BA. Preparation: i PM t BA could be prepared by the condensation of the secondary tert- butylisopropylamine (1 equiv) with formaldehyde (1.1 equiv) in the presence of formic acid (1.8 equiv) at 50–55 °C for 2 h. The mixture was neutralized with 8 M aq. KOH (1.5 equiv), extracted with pentane, dried over MgSO 4 , filtered, and distilled, yielding 80%. 1 Physical Data: d 25 °C 0.767 g cm −1 ; boiling point 127 °C. 1 Form Supplied in: commercially available as a colorless liquid.
