Abstract
Affranchie de la tutelle moscovite pendant la période de la NEP, la Direction générale de la photocinématographie d’Ukraine (VUFKU) diffusa ses premiers films en Europe occidentale et aux USA entre 1928 et 1930. Grâce aux ciné-clubs et à la collaboration du cinéaste Eugène Deslaw, sept films furent projetés sur les écrans français, dont deux chefs-d’œuvre du cinéma mondial – la Terre de Dovženko et l’Homme à la caméra de Dziga Vertov. Émanant du décret Henri Herriot, la censure qui frappa les films de production soviétique fut le principal obstacle à l’établissement d’une filière d’exploitation avec la société française Pathé-Nord. La relative indépendance économique prit fin brusquement en 1930, lorsque la VUFKU fut absorbée par le trust cinématographique d’État Sojuzkino de Moscou.
