La dicotomía entre tradición y modernidad en España tiene su periodo álgido en la década de 1950 cuando coexisten representaciones artísticas y arquitectónicas vanguardistas y de una extraordinaria modernidad con el saber hacer de los oficios tradicionales de la construcción. Una combinación armónica en la que ambos puntos de vista se conjugan para extraer su máximo potencial. En el interés de evaluar esa relación, la investigación se centra en el estudio de los materiales y técnicas del mural ubicado en el antiguo pabellón de la Obra Sindical del Hogar, en el recinto ferial de la Casa de Campo en Madrid, un lugar surgido de la tradición y la experimentación. Los resultados muestran cómo las técnicas tradicionales de elaboración de azulejos y de decoración se combinan con un lenguaje moderno y plantea los criterios a tener en consideración para su restauración.
