Abstract
L’article explore la façon dont des auteurs et des autrices de conditions sociales diverses ont chanté les régions du Québec durant la première moitié du xxe siècle, en partant du cas du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. Il suit deux pistes : l’usage de la chanson aux fins de promotion d’idées et de valeurs, souvent le fait des élites, et l’apparition non programmatique de créations émanant généralement d’autres acteurs sociaux. Pour la première, la chanson régionaliste principalement, porteuse d’un grand projet de société, est abordée. Pour la seconde, un répertoire proche de la vie quotidienne des habitants livre des vues plus tangibles et présumées plus conformes aux perceptions de la majorité de la population.
