Abstract
Cet article propose une analyse de Chroniques du Centre-Sud de Richard Suicide, un album qui s’inscrit dans une mouvance récente de la bande dessinée québécoise contemporaine, soit la représentation d’un imaginaire de quartier. L’examen de la trajectoire du bédéiste permet d’abord de voir en quoi Montréal et, plus précisément, le quartier Centre-Sud constituent l’un des points névralgiques de son oeuvre. Une lecture plus approfondie de Chroniques du Centre-Sud met par la suite en lumière les stratégies narratives et graphiques adoptées par le bédéiste pour raconter le quartier montréalais. Cette analyse s’appuie notamment sur les réflexions de Jean-Didier Urbain à propos de la spatialité et des actes de discours qui en découlent ainsi que sur les notions de carte et de parcours, telles que conçues par Michel de Certeau. L’article s’attache donc à cerner l’imaginaire de quartier véhiculé par Richard Suicide, tant sur le plan spatial que sur celui des affects.
