Abstract
La liste d’instruments de musique qui accompagne les scènes de liesse collective est un leitmotiv du récit médiéval. Ces passages soulèvent la question de ce qui distingue le topos narratif d’autres éléments récurrents dans un récit tels que le motif, le cliché ou le topos rhétorique. On verra en effet qu’elles permettent d’aller au-delà du simple ornatus rhétorique pour attirer l’attention sur l’instance narrative responsable de ce déploiement terminologique. Dans les textes considérés dans l’article, la liste d’instruments fait valoir la compétence littéraire et lexicale du narrateur qui s’identifie ainsi à la figure du ménestrel associée à sa performance et à ses instruments.
