Abstract
Le canal latéral à la Garonne, prolongement du canal du Midi, a été inauguré en 1856. Dû à Jean-Baptiste de Baudre, il relie Toulouse à Castets-en-Dorthe. L’inventaire de ce linéaire, mené dans les années 2010, témoigne de son histoire dans le paysage industriel français : maintes fois voué à la disparition il voit son administration relancer le trafic fluvial. Le recensement des différents ouvrages d’art révèle l’évolution des techniques appliquées au patrimoine fluvial et les changements importants comme, dans les années 1990, la fin de la batellerie remplacée par le tourisme fluvial : les ports nouvellement équipés répondent à la demande des plaisanciers et les chemins de halages aménagés en « voies vertes » à de nouvelles pratiques sportives et sociales.
