Abstract
Аннотация.В 1739 г., завершая очередную войну гегемоны восточноевропейского геополитического пространства -Османская и Российская империи официально провозгласили «вольность» Кабарды.Настоящая работа сосредоточена на исследовании предпосылок такого исхода межимперского противоборства.В фокус исследования помещена динамика взаимодействия нарративных стратегий соперничающих держав в соотнесении с «языком самоописания» правителей ведущего восточночеркесского княжества.Материалы и документы из фондов Архива внешней политики Российской империи (АВПРИ) составили источниковую базу исследования.Ее анализ позволяет проследить сохранение преемственности в самопозиционировании политической элиты Кабарды на протяжении рассматриваемого периода.
