Abstract
This case study explores the approach to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in Canadian universities, noting the many approaches to building inclusive campuses and ensuring that these better reflect Canadian society. The author also notes that universities serve students with disabilities, faculty and staff; and points to the legislative framework to enable such an approach. However, the author argues that universities continue to be elitist, many with exclusive admission requirements. She questions how young people with intellectual disabilities fit into this inclusive movement and suggests that this movement is predicated on institutional commitment, resources and leadership.
