Abstract
Portraits : regards sur l'animal et son langage. Colloque international organisé par le Labo 3L.AM. 8-10 octobre 2015. Le Mans et Angers. /// À la fin du XIXe siècle et au début du XXe siècle, des naturalistes, amateurs ou professionnels, qui sont souvent également des protecteurs de la nature, portent des regards singuliers sur les castors, qu’ils soient canadiens (Castor canadensis) ou européens (Castor fiber). De Lewis H. MORGAN à Grey OWL en passant par Galien MINGAUD, Louis MAGAUD D’AUBUSSON ou encore Alexandrine FEUILLEE-BILLOT, il s’agira d’analyser ces œuvres littéraires et scientifiques qui ont pour sujet et acteur ces animaux, de percevoir ce qu’elles impliquent de la relation homme-animal en les contextualisant, de mesurer les différences spatiales (pays d’Europe, Amérique du Nord) et spécifiques (castor canadien, castor d’Europe) ainsi que les évolutions temporelles (de l’utilitarisme à la protection de la nature et de l’animal sauvage), et d’esquisser à partir d’elles une éthologie historique.
