Abstract
On A Logician’s Mantelpiece: Frege Tony Simpson Click for larger view View full resolution Bertrand Russell would populate his mantelpiece with portraits of thinkers he admired. In WWI he pointed out to Victor Lenzen that he had “these two Huns to keep me company”. One was this portrait of Frege.The source of the torn-off caption, “Mit freundlichen Grussen” [With friendly greetings], cannot be a letter in the Archives. Cropped out are the 15×10 cm. dark wooden frame and the matte. The book Frege holds is unknown and may be a prop.
