practice, which are given everyday, non-explicit standards.This study shows that there is a kind of affinity between legal rules -state normativity associated with the respect of the right to freedom of religion -and norms of practice -informal normativity expressed through daily practice, a proximity which shows the complex character of the legal forum that are emergency rooms.This article is based on a two-year study, from Autumn 2018 to Autumn 2020; a period that was in divided into data collection and analysis stages.Four emergency rooms were selected to participate in the study: three in Montreal and one in Sherbrooke.A total of 50 participants took part in the research, specifically 22 nurses, 19 physicians, and 9 caregivers.Forty-five semistructured interviews lasting an average of 40 minutes were conducted, as well as 241 hours of on-site observation, with an average of 80 hours of observation in three of the four emergency rooms in our sample.El objetivo de este artículo es presentar las respuestas concretas ofrecidas por el personal de los servicios de urgencias a las manifestaciones de libertad de religión por parte de los pacientes que se encuentran en situación de emergencia; se defiende así la idea de que existe una armonización práctica de los valores religiosos en una sala de urgencias.Este tipo de armonización supone el respeto de consideraciones concretas, como la presencia de recursos temporales y humanos para atender a las necesidades religiosas de los pacientes, así como el respeto de ciertas exigencias materiales, en particular el espacio disponible.Los trabajadores de la sala de urgencias están obligados a respetar las normas oficiales, relacionadas particularmente con el derecho constitucional a la libertad de religión, pero también las denominadas normas prácticas, es decir, las normas tácitas cotidianas y esperadas.Lo que pone de manifiesto el estudio realizado por el autor se debe a la presencia de una cierta forma de proximidad entre las normas de derecho -la normatividad estatal concerniente al respeto del derecho a la libertad de religión-y las normas prácticas -la normatividad informal aplicable a las prácticas cotidianas-.De esta manera se revela el carácter complejo del derecho aplicable a este ámbito que es una sala de urgencias.La exposición del autor se basa en un estudio de dos años, desde el otoño de 2018 hasta el otoño de 2020, un período compartido entre la recopilación y el análisis de datos.Se seleccionaron cuatro salas de urgencias: tres en Montreal y una en Sherbrooke.En la investigación participaron un total de 50 personas, a saber, 22 enfermeras, 19 médicos y 9 trabajadores; se realizaron 45 entrevistas semidirigidas con una duración promedio de 40 minutos, así como 241 horas de observación in situ, lo que equivale a un promedio de 80 horas de observación en tres de las cuatro salas de emergencia.SOMMAIRE Introduction .......................................
