Abstract
Cet article porte sur les représentations de la marginalité dans Les héritiers de la mine, un roman de la Québécoise Jocelyne Saucier (2000). Parce qu’il multiplie dès l’incipit les figures de décentrement, l’imaginaire déployé apparaît d’abord comme le lieu d’une négociation où la non-conformité est reine. Cependant, au fil de la lecture, une « poétique de l’entre-deux », portée par le personnage d’Angèle, finit par casser la classique dichotomie nous/eux découlant d’une marge réduite à son unique logique d’exclusion. Il s’agira donc d’exposer le tissage sémiotique d’une identité-frontière, en constant équilibre sur le « mince fil » d’un idéal vécu « sans compromission ».
