The Congregation of the Missionaries of Saint Charles/Scalabrinians, is a Roman Catholic community of priests and brothers founded on November 28th, 1887 by Bishop John Baptist Scalabrini.They share in the mission of the Church through their unique service to migrants and refugee people.Their labour on a 'grass roots levels' with those who suffer the trauma of migration and on a level of government and scholarship to sensitize society to the needs of those displaced and uprooted.The Scalabrinian Missionaries are found in 26 countries on 5 continents.Their pastoral activity is carried out in 210 parishes and missionary centres, 6 Apostleships of the Sea centres, 5 Spirituality centres, 6 studies centres, 13 retirement homes, 3 hospitals, 5 orphanages, 4 radio stations, 30 newspapers and periodicals, 29 offices for the coordination of the pastoral care of migrants (7 of these being national oftrees):Bishop Scalabrini, the founder of the congregation, is remembered for innovative approaches to religious education, relief services, political and social involvement for
