Abstract
In order to assess whether media can be reckoned as a major factor in the perception, positioning and expression of Italian culture in Canada, several challenging questions come to mind: 1.What distinguishes Italian culture in a postnational, postmodern world? 2. How have media evolved in their representation of Italian culture in the Canadian context? 3. How is this cultural presence being affected by the growing exposure to and consumption of media products; are there cultural shifts which can be linked to the media; are these changes deep or superficial?4.
