Pulsed field ablation (PFA) has become a promising treatment technique for atrial fibrillation in the recent years. However, the further investigation of the time for characterizing the cardiac cell death after electroporation is required. In this study, five incubation times (0, 3, 6, 12, and 24 h) after electroporation at two different electric field strengths (1000 and 2500 V/cm) were selected to study the dynamics of cell death using an in vitro 3D cardiac cell model. The results achieved in this study demonstrate that the cell death rate changes with the incubation time and the changes are different between the electric field strengths of 1000 and 2500 V/cm. The future work on this difference between the low and high electric fields is warranted using a larger range of electric field strengths.
