Abstract
L’article traite de la relation ambivalente de Scheler à la Jugendbewegung. Peu avant la Première Guerre mondiale, Scheler élabore sur les bases de sa phénoménologie personnaliste, teintée de catholicisme, sa critique de l’homme capitaliste. Dans ce cadre, il s’intéresse à la Jugendbewegung, parce qu’elle lui paraît s’opposer aux valeurs dominantes de la société wilhelminienne. Il essaie d’exercer sur elle une influence, et sa philosophie joue pour la jeunesse catholique un certain rôle. Mais les contacts personnels sont peu nombreux et n’aboutissent pas à des résultats concrets. Au cours des années 1920, Scheler devient de plus en plus critique, ce qui s’explique par son évolution philosophique et politique. Scheler devient un républicain de raison (malgré ses réticences contre la démocratie moderne), et il prend congé de ses attentes utopiques envers la jeunesse.
