Después de revisar el artículo de Farah et al . sobre la prevalencia del carcinoma hepatocelular (CHC) en América Latina [1] , creemos que la experiencia colombiana se puede complementar con registros de atención de pacientes individuales recopilados por SISPRO, la base de datos administrativa oficial del Ministerio de Salud [2] . Durante el quinquenio 2017-2021 se reportaron a nivel nacional 2,244 casos de CHC en pacientes adultos; a diferencia de lo informado por Farah et al ., las mujeres representaron el 49% (n=1.099), cifra superior al 39%. La edad media fue de 68 años, similar a la que describen.
