Abstract

Cet article formule une proposition concrète quant à la manière dont la réduplication pragmatique à valeur d’insistance (RPI) pourrait être abordée dans une grammaire descriptive accordant une place de choix à la langue orale, notamment à la langue des conversations à bâtons rompus (ou familières). L’atteinte de l’objectif fixé passe par l’élaboration d’une rubrique grammaticale qui s’ouvre sur une présentation générale du sujet traité et se termine sur une discussion de quelques cas saillants de réduplication, tels qu’ils ont cours dans les conversations à bâtons rompus. La rubrique esquissée comporte cinq sections, consacrées aux thématiques suivantes. On s’attarde : - aux diverses sortes de réduplication discutées dans la littérature sur le sujet et à la place occupée par la RPI dans ce vaste ensemble ; - à la valeur modale de la RPI et à son lien avec les actes de langage ; - à sa valeur iconique ; - aux traits sémantiques généraux associés aux mots usuellement pragmatiquement rédupliqués dans les conversations familières ; - au poids interactionnel rattaché à certains cas récurrents de RPI eu égard à des stratégies en lien avec la politesse linguistique.
