El principal objetivo del estudio es la confección del corpus de locuciones españolas compuestas con el nombre de un instrumento musical, del tipo entre pitos y flautas o templar gaitas; para ello se toman como fuentes de búsqueda cuatro diccionarios españoles, dos descriptivos de uso general –el DLE y el DEA– y dos específicos de fraseología –el DFEM y el DFDEA–.Entre las conclusiones que pueden extraerse, puede afirmarse que son muy pocos los nombres de instrumento musical que han logrado generar locuciones y que la mayoría son instrumentos bastante conocidos (guitarra, piano, acordeón, platillo, tambor, flauta, violín, gaita, pandereta, castañuela, bombo, pito, etc.) e incluso propios del ámbito español o europeo, aunque con carácter universal; asimismo, los corpus de los cuatro diccionarios no son coincidentes, ni son estables (p. ej., varían de una edición a otra).
