Cet article présente un modèle théorique inédit pour penser la construction du rapport à la maternité en contexte de gestation pour autrui et de don d’ovules à l’aune de trois systèmes normatifs : 1) le modèle de parenté euroaméricain qui délimite les frontières familiales et sous-tend la quête de la « vraie » mère, suggérant que le statut ne peut être occupé que par une seule femme ; 2) l’institution de la maternité qui exerce une pression de conformité à une image idéalisée de la mère et favorise l’émergence d’un discours sur le don comme stratégie de neutralisation d’une étiquette déviante et 3) la reproduction stratifiée qui rend saillantes les positions sociales des personnes concernées au regard des inégalités d’accès à certaines filières ou techniques de reproduction assistée.
