Abstract
Introduction: Superficial acral fibromyxoma is a rare soft tissue tumor.It typically manifests as a slow-growing tumor around fingernails or toenails in middle-aged individuals.Diagnosis is based on histopathological examination.The recommended method of treatment is surgical excision with a wide margin of macroscopically unchanged tissues.Objective: Presentation of the clinical, dermoscopic and histopathological presentation of a rare tumor of the nail apparatus.Case report: A 47-year-old male patient was consulted due to non-pigmented tumor involving the bed and the lateral nail fold of the right thumb.The lesion appeared about 6 months earlier and gradually increased in size.The histopathological image of the sample confirmed the diagnosis of superficial acral fibromyxoma.Due to the size and location of the tumor, the patient was referred to the Hand Surgery Department for surgical treatment.Conclusions: The diagnosis of superficial acral fibromyxoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of pigmentless tumors of the nail apparatus.
