Abstract
RESUMO: Com a promulgação e efetivação da Política Nacional da População em Situação de Rua através do decreto nº 7.053 de 2009, passou a constituir uma rede de proteção social voltado para esse público tão marginalizado e invisível que são as pessoas em situação de rua.o artigo tem por objetivo caracterizar a população em situação de rua das zonas centro-oeste e oeste de Manaus.O método utilizado foi o materialista histórico dialético, que compreende a historicidade dos processos sociais.A coleta de dados se deu a partir do relatório do Instituto Silvério de Almeida Tundis -ISAT, que se baseou na pesquisa de campo foi utilizada a observação participante no período de outubro de 2018 a março de 2019, nas zonas centro-oeste e oeste de Manaus.Conclui-se que, há um grande desafio para o poder público, pois, mesmo com avanços na legislação, ainda se faz necessário a criação de mecanismo que possam mensurar o quantitativo real desse público, bem como a instalação de equipamentos públicos que possam atender suas necessidades e demandas.
