Abstract
O Estatuto dos Advogados do Brasil sofreu significativas alterações no ano de 2022, sendo que uma de grande destaque foi a inclusão de policiais no rol de capacitados para postularem no exercício advocatício, sendo que anteriormente os mesmos eram tidos como incompatíveis a tal profissão. Os mesmos passaram a poder realizar a defesa própria e a defesa de tutela de direitos individuais. Essa modificação tem sido alvo de contestações por parte da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil, que apresentou uma série de pontos sobre os motivos que entendem inabilitar tais profissionais ao exercício da defesa regular. O presente artigo, assim, fará uma análise das alterações legislativas, a análise jurisprudencial, doutrinária e fática das questões a ela atinentes, procurando entender de que modo essa novidade pode modificar estruturas regulares das instituições policiais.
