Abstract
Réputé défendre et illustrer le modèle du « drame », au sens où l’entend Peter Szondi, le théâtre bourgeois de Dumas fils et Augier enfreint pourtant l’un de ses traits définitoires : le respect du « quatrième mur » qui seul garantit le caractère « absolu » de la fiction dramatique, c’est-à-dire sa clôture et son autonomie. Fondé sur la citation et la variation de pièces du répertoire, il s’affiche comme théâtre. En outre, le personnage raisonneur ou spirituel, porteur d’un point de vue sur l’action, médiatise la relation entre la scène et la salle à la manière d’une figure « épico-dramatique ». Enfin, le dialogue laisse régulièrement la place à des modalités d’énonciation frontale (chansons, apartés, mots).
