Abstract

La diversité culturelle de la population montréalaise a amené les professionnels de la Clinique pédiatrique transculturelle de l’Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont à inscrire un outil de travail expérimenté depuis une vingtaine d’années dans leur méthodologie d’évaluation. L’élaboration de cette grille d’évaluation transculturelle s’appuie sur plusieurs fondements théoriques et méthodologiques de l’ethnopsychiatrie. Elle constitue un guide pour aider l’intervenant à identifier et à tenir compte des éléments du parcours migratoire et des impacts du changement dans les repères culturels. Elle permet aussi d’accorder une place au sens donné par l’usager à ses difficultés selon ses croyances, son point de vue personnel et culturel. La diffusion plus large de cette grille pourrait enrichir l’évaluation du fonctionnement social des travailleurs sociaux auprès des personnes issues de la diversité ethnoculturelle en accordant une plus grande place aux éléments culturels et migratoires.
