L'article 26 de la Loi concernant les soins de fin de vie indique que la personne doit respecter les critres suivants pour formuler une demande d'AMM : Elle est une personne assure au sens de la Loi sur l'assurance maladie; Elle est majeure et apte consentir aux soins; Elle est en fin de vie; Elle est atteinte d'une maladie grave et incurable; Sa situation mdicale se caractrise par un dclin avanc et irrversible de ses capacits; Elle prouve des souffrances physiques ou psychiques constantes, insupportables et qui ne peuvent tre apaises dans des conditions qu'elle juge tolrables.
