L'étude porte sur le secteur de la vallée Nisling compris entre ses affluents Mackintosh et Stevens, au sud-ouest du Yukon. L'analyse des faciès sédimentologiques de sept sites, ainsi que les comparaisons granulométriques et les assemblages minéralogiques d'échantillons prélevés dans ces sites ont permis de proposer une esquisse des événements pleistocenes qui se sont succédé dans la gorge de la vallée de la Nisling River et ses environs. Ainsi, on met en évidence l'existence d'un till de fond argileux correspondant à une glaciation pré-Reid, suivie d'une période de fusion identifiée par une unité de silt. La Glaciation de Reid se traduit par un delta en progradation correspondant à un épisode lacustre de courte durée. À cette période, la gorge était barrée par une langue glaciaire et le lac couvrait le bassin supérieur de la vallée Nisling. Le delta a ensuite été recouvert par le glacier lui-même qui y a laissé un till délavé. Une terrasse d'épandage fluvioglaciaire est emboîtée dans ces dépôts à l'amont de la gorge; les sédiments en sont attribués à la Glaciation de McConnell. Enfin, c'est à l'Holocène que se produit le dernier encaissement et la formation de la plaine alluviale. L'étude montre également la ressemblance des assemblages minéralogiques du till de fond argileux pré-Reid avec ceux des sédiments glaciaires et fluvioglaciaires McConnell du bassin du Aishihik Lake. Lors de ces deux glaciations, les langues de glace avaient donc une même origine, les monts St. Elias.
