Abstract
The publication is devoted to a newfound the monument of medieval Russian epigraphy inscriptions on the headstone of archbishop Tikhon, telling about his death in 1512. In the article in detail describes the parameters of plates, the location of the inscription on it. Study of paleographic features of inscription allowed the author dating it a later time, than specifi ed in an inscription of the date of death of the archbishop, namely the second quarter of XVI century. Inscription is considered in a historical context. Thanks to the opening of a new monument of the author managed to fi ll some of the gaps in the biography of Yaroslavl and Rostov bishop to establish, that he had lived in retired for more than eight and a half years, that from other sources is not known.
