L’éducation aux médias et à l’information se situe à la croisée des pratiques médiatiques, informationnelles et numériques; il s’agit de doter l’individu d’un appareillage conceptuel et méthodologique susceptible de l’aider à mettre en œuvre une approche critique des médias et de l’information, et à s’emparer de son écosystème informationnel plutôt que de le subir. Cet article pose la question des pratiques médiatiques, informationnelles et numériques des futurs enseignants au Bénin et prend appui sur une recherche qui se situe dans une perspective compréhensive. Les enquêtés décrivent leurs pratiques au moyen d’un questionnaire exploratoire suivi d’un entretien de groupe. Les données collectées montrent d’une part que les pratiques sont essentiellement non formelles et s’appuient sur l’usage du téléphone mobile, et mettent en évidence d’autre part le besoin de formaliser des connaissances et compétences que les étudiants pourront transférer à leurs futurs élèves.
