La pandémie de COVID-19 a rendu la formation à distance (FAD) plus populaire à travers le monde et l’Afrique n’a pas fait exception. En conséquence, l’intérêt des chercheurs pour les moyens de rendre ce mode d’enseignement-apprentissage efficace s’est accru, notamment dans l’enseignement supérieur. Dans cet article, nous présentons, à partir d’une revue de littérature, un état des lieux des approches méthodologiques (quantitatives, qualitatives et mixtes) utilisées par les chercheurs pour étudier les conditions d’efficacité de la FAD dans l’enseignement supérieur en Afrique et les conditions proposées dans plusieurs des études recensées. Le résultat de notre recherche montre que ces conditions comprennent, entre autres, celles liées aux infrastructures et équipements technologiques, à la qualité d’accès à Internet, aux compétences technopédagogiques des étudiants et des enseignants, à la conception des cours, aux caractéristiques des outils d’apprentissage en ligne ainsi qu’aux ressources de soutien (pour les enseignants et les étudiants). Nous présentons également les propositions de chercheurs pour faire face à certains défis, dont les infrastructures technologiques inadéquates
