Abstract
Cet article, inspiré par une sociologie basée sur la phénoménologie herméneutique d’Alfred Schütz, établit les assises d’une sociologie du nationalisme vécu. Cette approche, nous avançons, permet de mieux examiner la signification de la nation telle qu’elle se constitue dans les activités du quotidien. Par l’entremise d’une analyse de cas, nous démontrons la pertinence empirique d’une sociologie du nationalisme vécu. En reconstituant le sens des actions qui sous-tendent les campagnes de marketing d’une brasserie belge, nous mettons en lumière la manière dont le fait national prend part à la marchandisation de bières. En plus de soutenir l’idée que nous vivons dans un monde de nations, la brasserie, nous argumentons, participe à l’aménagement d’une ère de nation branding ; ce moment où, au côté des États, les entreprises, par leur performance économique de la nation, construisent mais aussi profitent de la nation comme une marque.
