Abstract
L’article porte spécifiquement sur un essai méconnu, de nature à la fois ethnographique, philosophique et littéraire, intitulé Le repas et l’amour chez les Merinas, et rédigé par Jean Paulhan pendant son séjour à Madagascar. Dans une première section, je fais valoir la pertinence et la complexité de cet objet particulier pour une sociologie herméneutique. Dans une deuxième section, j’indique quelques-uns des vecteurs d’interprétation possibles appliqués à cet objet, en m’attardant à certains éléments textuels. Dans la troisième et dernière section, en m’appuyant en partie encore sur l’oeuvre de Paulhan, j’avance des propositions plus générales concernant l’approche interprétative dans les sciences humaines et notamment sa dimension réflexive.
