Abstract
Este trabajo sigue el recorrido del desarrollo y la transformación de las tecnologías de la información empleadas en los Andes durante casi mil años, lapso que incluye la transición desde los sistemas indígenas de registro de información hasta el predominio de la escritura alfabética. En la actualidad, es frecuente concebir los cambios en las tecnologías de la información de manera progresiva, es decir, como la actualización de un sistema más antiguo por otro mejor, con mayores capacidades y funciones.
